Purpose
This activity provides you the opportunity to analyze the components of critical and digital literacy regarding the increased demands for students and the workforce.

Instructions
For this activity, you are going to explore the components of workforce organizations.

Complete the following five steps in order, using the spaces provided in this document. You will submit your completed A Closer Look At Workforce Organizations document to the A Closer Look At Workforce Organizations Dropbox folder in the course.

Step One
First, go to the Florida Department of Education’s list of District Technical Center Directors and websites at http://data.fldoe.org/workforce/contacts/default.cfm?action=showList&ListID=7

Choose three different schools from three different counties, and examine their websites using the guidelines/questions in Step Two.

Step Two
Analyze the three different technical centers that you chose in Step One by responding to the following questions in the spaces provided.

What is the targeted population of the technical center? (To whom are they marketing?)

What programs does the technical center offer?

What are the benefits of attending this technical center?

What is the second technical center that you chose?

In what county is this technical center located?

What are the benefits of attending this technical center?

What is the third technical center that you chose?

In what county is this technical center located?

What is the targeted population of the technical center? (To whom are they marketing?)

Step Three
Take a closer look at two different educational options as discussed in your textbook on pages 349-350.

Take some time to learn more about the options of school vouchers and charter schools by using the online resource below. You may wish to do your own additional research.

There are different ideas on both sides regarding the benefits and drawbacks for these topics.

In Step Four, you will use what you’ve learned to answer questions.
