The Operation of National Health Service Supply Agency

The Operation of National Health Service Supply Agency

According to Weiner, (2012),  the national health service purchasing and supply agency was formed as the National Health Service Centre of Excellence in matters regarding purchasing and supply of the sector products and services. Therefore, the operations of the NHS Supply chain take the control of the most complex network of the organization, which actually forms the National Health Service sector. The agency as indicated by Weiner, (2012), forms the integral part of the central government. This implies that the NHS supply chain is one of the department of health and forms a major part in the management and operation of the National Health Service. In this regard, the agency is responsible and accountable to the government ministries with regard to its progress in issues regarding purchasing and procurement services.

Further, the agency is also regularly called upon by the government to give advice and its contribution on matters relating to the development of the government policies, relating to procurement and purchases. NHS Supply chain plays major roles of giving advice to the government ministries on issues related to the supply and procurement activities. Further, since the NHS Supply chain is a commercial agency, it plays an integral role of forming an interface between the commercial and health sector.
