Nutrition
Reflection Paper
• Assignment Introduction
We have covered a large swath of material throughout this course related to your health and nutrition. However, all of the knowledge in the world won’t be useful if we don’t take it with us and apply it to our lives.
The purpose of this final activity is to see how well GS 320 and GS 320L impacted you throughout the semester and what the probability is of you implementing the items you learned here in the future. Our hope is that the course expanded your knowledge on how your nutrition works and ways to make it work better for you in the future. Additionally, we hope that you will take some of these principles and use them in your life so that you can live a more nutritious and fulfilling life.

NOTE: This activity uses SafeAssign Plagiarism Detection tool. Therefore, submitting the exact same paper in both courses will result in a 100% plagiarism feedback number.

The Reflection Paper* for GS 320 is designed to summarize your experience in the class. Review the following questions and be sure to answer them in the paper. Additionally, a Mechanics section is provided in Blackboard which details the specific requirements that the paper must meet. Ultimately the questions below are looking at the content that needs to be in the paper and the mechanics are looking at items like style of the paper and length of the paper. Remember that the answers reflect only what you got from the GS 320 class, NOT the lab portion of the course.
This activity will require you to reflect on what you have learned from the class and how you will implement some of the principles in your life if you are not already doing so. Please know that there are no right or wrong answers on this assignment, but I would appreciate honesty in it. Even if you didn’t like the course, I’m ok with you letting me know that. You’ll notice that the rubric doesn’t look for “thinking GS 320 / GS 320L is the best class ever”, so your grade won’t be affected by giving honest feedback. It is more important to me to make the class as good as possible for future students rather than having my pride puffed up.
With that being said, to complete this activity, you’ll need to download the attached Word document to see what questions I am looking at being answered. You’ll need to answer all of the questions and sub-questions located there.
When writing the Reflection Paper*, there is no standardized format. Write it however you want as long as it is easy to read and makes clear sense. If this means you want to use headings and write paragraphs for each question, that is fine. If you want to write one long narrative like a term paper and each question is addressed throughout, that is fine. However, you want to write it is fine as long as you make sure the following are met:
• All questions and sub-questions are answered
• The paper is easy to read
• The paper clearly describes your experiences and attitudes toward the course and material
• You meet the minimums of the mechanics section below
Again, there is no right or wrong answer to any of these questions. Honest self-reflection is what we are looking for here.
• Paper Length: 3 pages single spaced
• Font Type: Main body needs to be Sans Serif font (Arial, Calibri, Verdana)
• Font Size: 12 pt font
• Paper Margins: 1″
• Page Numbers: Please put page numbers at the bottom of the page
• Header: Please put your Full Name, Course Number, and Semester in the header of the page
For the most part, the options above are the defaults in Microsoft Word (2010 and 2013 versions)
Questions to Answer for the paper:
1. Summarize what you learned in the class. Give or take, what percentage of the information was new to you versus how much you already knew? How much of the information did you find useful?
Answer from me, with your addition to fulfill assignment req: Nutrition, we went over all aspects. Knew a lot, and some was surprising to learn (fill in the fluff)
2. How interesting was the information in the class? Did you enjoy the debates? Did the activities teach you anything? Was the material from the book worthwhile?
Answer from me, with your addition to fulfill assignment req: Class was intriguing and the debates were ok, I did not like have to take both opposing sides to the debate, more interested in one side and debating with my peers the opposition. (Expound on this statement)
3. What five things did you learn throughout the semester which you may try to implement in your life over the next 6 months? These may be concepts that made you think of a different way to live or practical suggestions from the book that may have been mentioned. These can also be very broad things (ex: exercise more) or specific things (ex: replace Sweet and Low with Sucralose).
Answer from me, with your addition to fulfill assignment req: Possibly interested in implementing a semi vegan diet, as I would still like to consume fish and dairy, i.e. eggs. Fill in the fluff. Explain the importance of exercising from a personal stand point.
4. Of the five items listed in number three, how likely do you think you will be able to maintain the changes you listed? Why or why not? Be sure to think of reasons why you may not be able to maintain the changes and suggest solutions on how to overcome those reasons. Explain why
Answer from me, with your addition to fulfill assignment req: going semi vegetarian will be difficult, from a personal standpoint as I am an avid meat eater and I love red meats. Also, expound on the difficulties in exercising as I have limited time and knee problems, these factors will pose as challenges to implanting the aforementioned.
5. Would you recommend the course to a fellow classmate that has not yet taken GS 320? Why or why not?
Answer from me, with your addition to fulfill assignment req: Definitely recommend, then go on to explain, about how a lot of the material captured in this class, is implementable through life and just from the information received in this class will lead to healthier choices and better outcome of life. Fluff Fluff Fluff
These questions need to be addressed in your write up. They do not need to be addressed in any particular order as long as you touch base with them. Just make sure you answer each question at some point in the write up and be sure that however you decide to structure your paper, it is easy to read and clear to follow.
